Making Movies
My husband, Nick, is an award-winning film editor and all-round creative powerhouse who’s spent decades shaping stories for South African (and international) screens… from feature films and TV series to documentaries, commercials, and music videos.
Because of his work, our family has been kinda embedded in the film world from the start. Our home has doubled as a set more times than I can count, and I’ve often jumped in to help on different projects… lending my creative chaos wherever it fits.
Over the years, though, we’ve both felt a growing pull to tell ourown stories… to create films that reflectour voices (and our slightly off-centre way of seeing the world).
Earning a living off filmmaking in South Africa isn’t easy (see the FAQ below for a taste of why), but every so often we get a small window of opportunity… (*cough! cough!*…funding!!) to make something that’s truly ours.
The projects below are the result of those moments.
If I had my way (or, to put it bluntly, if we had the $$), we’d be making a lot more of our films.
Anyhoo… have a wander, watch a few clips, and explore the stories we’ve managed to bring to life so far.
Our Films:
"Starry Night"
"A haunting reflection on the cost of brilliance and the ghosts fame leaves behind"
Starry Night is a short film about the price of stardom… and what fame and expectation can do to a creative soul.
Click below to watch the film, uncover its easter eggs, and explore the illustrated book I created to accompany it.

"The Greeks on Zama Street"
"Ubuntu served with tzatziki"
The Greeks on Zama Street… (the polar opposite of Starry Night) is a comedy pilot about a family of ex-pat Greeks living in a gated estate in Durban. Their good intentions (and occasional stubborn streaks) lead to a whirlwind of misunderstandings, neighbourly drama, and cross-cultural chaos with their South African neighbours.
Nick and I co-wrote and co-directed the pilot, blending Mediterranean passion with South African spirit – or as Nick likes to call it, Ubuntu served with tzatziki.
